The Summerland Lady Bobcats claimed third place at the Jan. 24 Neligh-Oakdale Invite, tallying 106.5 points. Lakeview captured the team title with 124 points, while West Holt finished as the runner-up with 114.
Leading the way for the Lady Bobcats, Lenora Kester (2-1) earned silver in the 105-pound division, contributing 14 points to the team’s total. After dropping her opening match by technical fall to Sadie Keogh of WH, Kester rebounded with a fall over Norfolk’s Aceley Hoff in 4:37 and another fall over Adelle Russman of Northeast Nebraska in just 1:44.
At 110 pounds, Ava Cleveland (27-6) also finished second and added 22 points to the scoreboard. Cleveland pinned Kaitlyn Mahaney of NEN in 1:38 and dispatched Boone Central’s Bristol Hardwick in just 1:03. She advanced to the finals following a medical forfeit victory over Ellison Berkeland of Lakeview but narrowly fell to Baylee Chessmore of Neligh-Oakdale by a 4-3 decision.
Abbey Chipps (29-10) brought home another silver for Summerland at 120 pounds, earning 19.5 team points. Chipps started her day with a bye and followed with a second-round pin against Ruby Spann of BC in 2:41. She dominated her semifinal match, securing a technical fall over Creighton’s Ellison LaDeaux before falling in the finals to Lakeview’s Lacy Lemburg by a 12-0 major decision.
In the 140-pound bracket, Kaylee Thiele (26-6) clinched third place with 18 points. After receiving a bye in the opening round, Thiele pinned Delylla Olson of Fullerton in 1:12 but was stopped in the semifinals by Payton Whited of Ord. Thiele rebounded with two consecutive pins, taking down Braylen Fielder of Kenesaw in 20 seconds and Kinzey Long of Norfolk in 3:21 to secure the bronze.
Jadyn Hobbs (9-15) claimed third place at 145 pounds, adding 7 points. Hobbs faced a tough start with a technical fall loss to Morgan Schaaf of West Holt but bounced back with a pin over Ariel Falcon of NEN in 1:39. Despite a loss to Audrey Cline of Franklin, Hobbs ended strong, pinning Chelbi Ramponi of Crofton/Bloomfield in 1:46.
At 155 pounds, Charlee Wagner (19-16) secured third, contributing 15 points. Wagner was pinned by Rylie Doerr of Crofton/Bloomfield in the quarterfinals but rallied with three straight falls, defeating Aubrey Nykodym of Elkhorn Valley in 2:15, Lillian Stange of Creighton in 1:42, and Jayden Lind of Franklin in 1:54.
In the 190-pound division, Jaelyn Shaver (27-9) placed third, scoring 7 points. After an opening-round loss to Libby Evans of Elgin Public/Pope John, Shaver pinned Addyson Jacob of N-O in 3:22 and closed her day with a pin against teammate Kyah Bruhn in 1:17.
While Kyah Bruhn (3-3) also competed at 190 pounds and finished fourth, her efforts did not result in medal placement.
