The Summerland girls wrestling team earned runner-up honors at the inaugural Greater Nebraska Activities Conference wrestling meet, held Jan. 23 at Neligh-Oakdale.
Coach Dan Roeber praised the team's effort, saying, "It was exciting to see our girls come away with the runner-up honors in the inaugural GNAC conference meet."
Summerland saw several standout performances, including four individual champions.
Jaelyn Shaver (25-7) dominated the 190 class, scoring 23 team points. She pinned Addyson Jacob of Neligh-Oakdale in just 59 seconds, followed by a 47-second fall over Plainview's Callie Taylor. Shaver secured the title via medical forfeit against teammate Kyah Bruhn.
Raina Krebs (22-6) captured first place in the 235 division, contributing 22 team points. She pinned Angie Camacho of Plainview in 1:06 and won by injury default against West Holt's Carleigh Jackson.
Kaylee Thiele (23-5) triumphed in the 140 class, scoring 21.5 points. Thiele earned a technical fall over Viviene Miller of N-O in 3:06 before pinning Ashlyn Forbes of Plainview in 1:10.
Abbey Chipps (27-9) dominated the 120 class, earning 26 team points. She won all her matches by fall, including a 1:19 pin over Melina Bullard of EV and a 38-second fall over Taryn Wingate of N-O.
In the 110 division, Ava Cleveland (25-5) placed second, scoring 18 team points. She advanced to the finals with a semifinal fall over Teegen Hasebroock of EV but fell to N-O's Baylee Chessmore by major decision.
Jadyn Hobbs (7-13) finished second in the 145 class, adding 14.0 team points. Hobbs pinned Plainview's Charley Pittet in 2:30 before falling to Morgan Schaafof West Holt.
In the 170 division, Charlee Wagner (16-15) took third place, scoring 10 points. After losses to WH's Shae Jackson and N-O's Grace Longsdorf, Wagner secured a win with a 1:45 fall over Aubrey Nykodym of EV.
TeamMates Kyah Bruhn (3-3) and Lenora Kester (0-2) also competed, with Bruhn earning third place in 190.
