Orchard board approves garbage rates

Orchard trustees approved garbage rates when they met in regular session, Jan. 13.

Residential rates will remain $25.66 a month. An additional trash receptacle will run $9.11.

Small businesses will pay $32.03 for trash service.

Dumpster rates vary, from $64.38 for a 1.5-yard dumpster; $76.03 for a two-yard dumpster; $116.49 for a three-yard dumpster; $148.85 for a four-yard receptacle; $201.92, six-yard; and $235.27, eight-yard.

Trustee Dwight Van Ostrand made the motion to approve the rates, which passed unanimously as Ordinance 01.13.2025.

Village maintenance supervisor Bruce Horstmann asked trustees to consider upgrades to radios currently use at the well. The new radios will be able to be reset remotely.

Trustees approved the purchase, which will be made with Keno funds.

In other business, trustees:

• Approved establishing payment arrangements for late water, sewer and trash invoices.

During discussion, board members unanimously agreed that if payment arrangements are necessary, individuals will have three months to pay past-due amounts. During that time, the current monthly bills must stay up to date. Missed payments will result in a disconnection.

• Learned roof repairs at the Orchard Community Center are needed.

• Found out the crow’s nest is prepared for moving. It will be situated closer to the baseball ballfield.
