Antelope County Clerk Magistrate Linda Mitchell recently submitted her notice of retirement, effective April 16, after just over forty years of service to the state's judicial branch.
Antelope County Court Judge Donna Taylor noted, "Linda came to the Antelope County Court around the same time I did. We celebrated her wedding and the births of her three children. From the outset, Linda was always ready to learn, eager to help and willing to take on extra duties - even before there was financial recognition for them. When other counties needed help, she was always glad to assist."
According to Taylor, Mitchell had no fear of the unknown and was always eager to learn new programs, answer questions from other court staff and share her expertise. She remarked, "Over the last ten years or so, we have shared rides from Neligh to Center, and our morning and evening rides have become a highlight of the week for me."
Adding that Mitchell's retirement is well-deserved, Taylor believes the event will be a loss to the state and "a loss of one of the best employees we will ever have."
Mitchell is the recipient of the Judicial Branch Employee of the Year award and has been named Outstanding Clerk Magistrate.
