Fire fatality reported in Ewing

Holt County Attorney Brent Kelly reported that on Sunday, Jan. 12, at approximately 9:49 a.m., Ewing Fire and Rescue was called to the scene of a single-wide trailer home fire on south Spruce Street in Ewing.

"Upon arrival, Ewing Fire Department found the west side of the trailer home was on fire and badly damaged," Kelly said.

Preliminary investigation shows the fire is believed to have been caused by a 55-gallon drum located in the kitchen.

Found deceased inside was the owner of the trailer, 75-year-old Gary Braun, of Ewing

Ewing Fire and Rescue, Holt County Sheriff's office, Holt County Attorney and State Fire Marshal's office assisted in the response and investigation.

The official cause of death is pending the results of a pathological autopsy.
