Lady Cats fall short against Stuart

The Summerland Lady Bobcats faced off against the Stuart Broncos in a home-court showdown on Dec. 17. Despite a hard-fought battle, the Lady Cats couldn’t overcome Stuart’s balanced scoring attack, falling 50-40.

The Lady Cats started with a competitive first quarter, posting nine points, but trailed as Stuart edged them out with 12. The Broncos widened the gap in the second, scoring 17 to Summerland’s six, leaving the home team with a 29-15 deficit at halftime.

Summerland found their rhythm after the break, tallying 10 points in the third quarter while holding Stuart to 11. The Lady Cats staged a late rally in the fourth, outscoring the Broncos 15-10, but the early deficit proved too much to overcome.

Kanyon Allemang led the Lady Cats with 15 points but struggled with turnovers, committing 13. Lydia Robertson delivered a strong performance in the paint, adding 13 points and pulling down nine rebounds. Jenna Funk was a force on the boards, grabbing 10 rebounds, while Belle Anson showcased her defensive prowess with four steals and two blocks.

Shooting percentages told the story of the game. The Lady Cats struggled from beyond the arc, hitting just 18% of their three-point attempts (3 of 17). Inside the arc, they managed a 28% success rate, connecting on 10 of 36 shots. Summerland found some consistency at the free-throw line, sinking 11 of 15 attempts for 73%.
