The Summerland Lady Bobcats gave it their all in an away game Friday night, Dec. 13, but ultimately fell 36-33 to Niobrara/Verdigre in a tightly-contested matchup. Both teams battled for control throughout the evening, with the home team pulling away in the fourth quarter to secure the win.
The game began as a defensive slugfest, with neither team finding much rhythm offensively. Niobrara/Verdigre held a slim 10-9 lead after the first quarter and carried that momentum into halftime, leading 14-12.
The Lady Bobcats' struggles continued in the third quarter, with both squads adding just seven points to the scoreboard. Despite a strong effort on the boards, Summerland couldn't capitalize on key opportunities to take the lead. Heading into the final frame, Niobrara/Verdigre clung to a 21-19 edge.
In the fourth quarter, the hosts found their stride, scoring 15 points to Summerland's four. Despite the late surge from Niobrara/Verdigre, standout performances from Lydia Robertson and Kanyon Allemang kept the Lady Bobcats within striking distance. Robertson led the team with 16 points, just missing a double-double with nine rebounds. Allemang added 12 points and four rebounds, showcasing her versatility on both ends of the floor.
The Lady Bobcats fought hard, but turnovers proved costly, with 21 committed on the night.
