Holiday Traditions

Holidays are about traditions. Summerland third-grade students share their favorite Christmas memories.

My tradition is Santaland. My whole family goes to Creighton. We tell Santa what we want. I want a teddy bear this year. I like listening to the radio music as we drive around. I like the blue lights the best. It's the best tradition in the whole universe.

Going to my uncle's to remember him is my favorite Christmas tradition. First, we go to my other uncle's house and play at their house. Next, we eat at my grandpa's brother's house and eat food. Then, we get some time to play with my cousins and others eat more food. Last, we open presents, youngest to oldest, and say thank you and goodbye as they leave. It's a happy time.

My family's Christmas tradition is I wrestle my aunt, uncle, and my dad. I pinned my aunt easily. I took down my uncle. I lost to my dad. I was like a bear when I wrestled. My mom was too scared to wrestle. My heart raced when I wrestled. My family's tradition is the best!

My favorite Christmas tradition is playing a Carbles tournament. We do this every year. I like it because my team is always close to winning by getting all our marbles home. I like being on my uncle's team! We have three people on a team always. Sometimes we have a snack break of cookies. After the snack break we play again. That's my favorite Christmas tradition.

Every year we go to Santaland with my grandparents. We have supper at Subway. We also get ice cream. I got chocolate chip cookie dough. Then, we go to Santaland and drive through it. The sleeping Santa is my favorite! Last, we go in Sant's workshop and have hot chocolate and meet Santa. I asked for a dirt bike this year. I like doing this every year.

My favorite Christmas tradition is the lights. I like to see the Christmas lights. My mom hangs the lights. They are red and green. I like to hear the music with my family when we see the lights. I like to see the Christmas lights every year.

My family's favorite tradition is Christmas War. We decorate nerf guns. We put lights and tinsel on the nerf guns. Everyone gets extra bullets. We get energy from the Christmas cookies. We go outside in the trenches that my dad dug. My family's Christmas Wars are amazing!

My favorite Christmas tradition is going to Santaland. First, we go through once and look at all the boxes. Second, we go into the workshop. The hot chocolate is as hot as the sun. Then, we go home and eat supper as a family. In conclusion, Santaland is the best!

My favorite family tradition is when my mom has a party and everyone comes to my house. First, we get food and silverware. Then, we get presents for people and Mom wraps them. Next, we invite people to our house. Last, we open presents and eat the food and have a great time. One time we got surprised and two people said they were having babies! It's the best day ever!

Going to the store is my favorite family tradition for Christmas. First, my entire family buys presents for all the aunts, uncles, and cousins coming. Then, we buy food to cook for Christmas. My favorite is the meat. Third, we pay and go back home listening to Spanish music. When we get home we grab all the presents and food and take it inside. Last, we wrap all the presents we bought. The wrapping paper for the presents is as pretty as a diamond. This is my favorite tradition.

My favorite tradition for Christmas is when my cousins come home. First, we eat supper with soup and cookies. Next, we open presents. Our baby cousins go first, the middle, and then oldest. Then, we play a lot of games like cards or Candyland. Finally, my cousins spend the night at my grandma's house and I spend the night also. This is all about my favorite tradition for Christmas.

My favorite family tradition is going on a scavenger hunt for cookies. First, we go to my grandma's house. We eat supper and play a card game. Then, we start finding the notes my grandma hid. The funniest clue was "Where the pig sleeps." It was my room!! When we find the cookies we drink hot cocoa. It is the best time of the year!!

My favorite family tradition is going to Santaland. I go with my family. First, we do the drive through. My favorite is the nativity scene. Then, we go inside the workshop and have cookies, see Santa, and drink hot cocoa. Last, we do the second half of the drive through. It is so much fun!

My family's tradition is to go to Santaland. We see Santa and tell him what we want for Christmas. All I want for Christmas is a cat. Then, we drive around two times to see all of the lights. Then, we go home and we bake chocolate cookies and we put out carrots. Then, we eat cookies and drink hot chocolate and watch a Christmas movie. It is a lovely time.

My family's Christmas tradition is going to Grandma Chellie's. We go to Royal. We go to the Royal gym. We open presents. We eat food. I love to go to Grandma Chellie's to open presents!

My family's tradition is going coyote hunting. We get the guns loaded in our pickup and go to the pasture. We walk to the blind. We sit and wait until we see something. If we shoot one, we go take a picture. I like this tradition.

My favorite Christmas tradition is attending the Ladies' Holiday Tea. My grandma, mom, and I all attend. The tea is in the evening on the first Sunday of December. I like going because we get to dress up. My favorite part is the living Christmas card and the music. The Holiday Tea is my favorite tradition because it's a great way to kick off the Christmas season.

I like when we watch a movie with popcorn and fake wine for the kids and real wine for the parents. My favorite part is when we spy on the elf! My favorite family tradition is we go to the Old Fashion Christmas. They have a corner where the kids can shop for their families. They have delicious cookies and hot cocoas and you go see Santa. We usually go in December. We meet family when we go to the Old Fashion Christmas. They have haystack rides and crafts. I like going to do it because it brings our family together.

My favorite Christmas tradition is on January 1st. My family goes to the Katser's house. Me and my family go to Spencer where they live. My family has a big feast and opens presents. We do it to celebrate Christmas. It is the best! I like it because I get to spend time with my family.

My favorite family tradition is baking snow top cookies with my family. I make them with Mom, Jack, and Clara. We make them in the kitchen and we make a lot of them for everyone. We make the cookies to put in boxes and give them to people. I like making cookies because it is messy. I get to taste the batter. I get to make it snow on the cookies and on me. Me and Jack fight about if it should be a little under done or a little over done and I get to eat them. Yum! In conclusion, that is why it is my favorite family tradition.

My family's favorite Christmas tradition is going to both of my family's grandparent's. We go to one grandma's on the 23rd of December and the other one on the 24th. At one of my grandma's house we lift up a cup and there is money, candy, or nothing inside it. It is my favorite tradition because we have a lot, lot of fun!
