Tuttle, Stallbaum sworn in as Ewing trustees

Ewing Village Board of Trustees welcomed its newest members when the board met in regular session Dec. 9.

Jeremy Tuttle and Kent Stallbaum read the oath of office before a new slate of officers were elected.

Kane Fry was elected as chairman and Dustin Jorgensen will serve as chairman pro tem.

After an executive session, trustees approved hiring Jennifer Ramold to fill the village clerk's position.

Current village clerk Sharon Swails will retire Dec. 31.

In other business, trustees:

• Tabled discussion and action on the North Street sewer main project. Swails said she expects bids will need to be resubmitted.

• Approved hiring Dana Cole & Co. to perform the village's audit.

• Approved two building permits.

• Discussed payment of real estate taxes on the duplexes.

Chairman Kane Fry suggested paying the amounts when due.

• Learned the auditor will conduct its annual visit on Thursday, Dec. 19. Swails has been preparing paperwork for the visit.

• Clarified hours for police officer John Shaver. Fry said he is currently a full-time officer for the Knox County Sheriff's office and is in Ewing as time permits. Village officials may contact him as needs arise.
