Lady Cats claim West Holt Invite title
Summerland's girls wrestling team scored 122.5 points en route to the team championship, Monday, at the West Holt Invite. The host team finished in the runner-up position, ending with 99 points.
The best news of the day: every Bobcat wrestler returned home with a medal.
Three girls took top honors in their divisions.
Kaylee Thiele went undefeated in the 140 class. She picked up wins over Morgan Kuchta, Cedar Catholic, fall in 2:31; Ashlyn Forbes, Plainview, in :39; Mabel Mgebeh, Randolph, in 1:10; Megan Jones, Ainsworth, in :57; and Payton Whited, Ord, in 3:47.
Jaelyn Shaver took top honors in the 190 division. She pinned Callie Taylor, Plainview, in :50; Kyah Bruhn, in 1:07; Addyson Jacob, NO, in 1:14 and Taylor Pavlik, Niobrara/Verdigre, in 1:15.
Raina Krebs ruled the 235 class, with wins over Raquel Morales-Montalvo, N/V, in 1:00 and Carleigh Jackson, WH, in :43.
Ava Cleveland earned a silver medal in the 115 class. She defeated Gentry Poulson by technical fall, 18-0, in the first round. In round three, Jolynn Pozehl, Ainsworth, pinned Cleveland, in 5:20, for the win.
Abbey Chipps finished third in the 125 class. She pinned Bailey Salers, O'Neill, in 1:52, to open the meet before falling to Felycia Kerkman, WH, in 3:57. In the consolation semifinal, Chipps pinned Caydence Liester, Elkhorn Valley, in :50 and faced Salers in the third-place match. Chipps ended with a pin, in 1:56.
Charlee Wagner earned a bronze medal in the 155 division. She started with a loss by fall, in 1:28 to Grace Longsdorf NO and picked up a pin over Braylin Rudnick, Ainsworth, in 1:19 in round three. Sierra Kluthe, Ord, pinned Wagner, in 1:34, in round four, but Wagner picked up a win by pin, in 2:21, over Lynley Leonard, Ainsworth.
Kyah Bruhn finished third in the 190 class. She defeated Jacob, NO, in 2:39, before having losses to Shaver, in 1:07, and Taylor Pavlik, Niobrara/Verdigre, in :57. In the fifth round, Bruhn pinned Plainview's Callie Taylor in :55.
Gracie Mudloff ended fourth in the 130 class. In round one, she pinned Peyton Thelen, Randolph, in 1:56. Grace Drueke, O'Neill, pinned Mudloff, in :55, in the second round and she lost to Madalyn Pistulka, WH, in 1:34 in the third round. Emerson Penne, EV, won by fall, in 3:28, in the fourth round and, in the final round, Mudloff won by medical forfeit.
Jaydn Hobbs ended fourth in the 145 class. She defeated Emily Krause, O'Neill, in :48 and Viviennee Miller, Neligh-Oakdale, in 1:07. In round three, Shelby Schukei, Sandhills/Thedford pinned Hobbs in 3:35; Morgan Schaaf, WH, won by fall, in 2:40; and Charley Pittet, Plainview pinned Hobbs in :41.
