Ewing village trustees discussed upcoming road projects during a public hearing when they met Nov. 11.
Reed Miller of Miller & Associates, the village's street superintendent, said the plan will remain the same since he didn't know if any projects had been completed.
"We complete the one- and six-year plan for highway allocation monies," Miller told officials. "The plan isn't cut it stone. You can change it tomorrow."
Last year, Ewing received approximately $70,000 in highway allocation funds. According to Miller, projections for the upcoming year show around $73,000 coming to village coffers.
Storm sewer and paving projects were listed on the one-year plan. Village clerk Sharon Swails said they are waiting to learn if Fisher grant dollars will be received to assist with the projects.
According to Miller, the grant would be used on North Street. He also suggested looking at a community development block grant, since the village's low-to-moderate income rate is 53%, meeting eligibility requirements.
"It's $450,000 and you (village) have to put in 10%," Miller added.
Miller & Associates will not be able to assist with the grant writing process, but he said his Kearney-based company will help find someone who can.
The village is on the funding approval list for Fiscal Year 2025. Miller said receiving funds can be a slow process.
"But, it's a chunk of money," Miller said.
Once the hearing was closed, trustees approved Resolution 432, regarding the street plan.
