Swails announces retirement as Ewing village clerk

Ewing village trustees accepted the retirement resignation of longtime village clerk, Sharon Swails, during Monday's regular meeting at city hall.

The vote was unanimous, with trustees Dustin Wright, Dustin Jorgensen and Kane Frey approving the action item. Trustees James Ramold and Katie Koenig were absent from the meeting.

Swails said her last day in office will be Dec. 31.

The board entered executive executive session to discuss the next steps to fill the position.

In other business, the board:

• Agreed to maintain the flags and flowers at the historical marker and park. Ramold told Swails he will still water the flowers.

• Tabled action on quotes for digital speed signs.

• Approved a quote from Lazy T Tire & Implement, in Orchard, for a mower. The current machine will be traded in.

• Postponed a decision on a proposal for a sewer main installation on North Street. The village clerk and maintenance superintendent will contact other licensed plumbing companies and request a quote. Subsequently, a contract with Miller & Associates for engineering the new sewer main was taken off the table.

• Approved a payment of $3,360.0 for the OOR Reuse Project Ewing 19 and housing administration services, originally paid by CORE. The Ewing account now has available funds for the payment.
