Bobcats dismantle LHNE

A lot of Summerland Bobcats saw playing time, Oct. 3, when they met Lutheran High Northeast on the Bobcat's home field.

On a beautiful fall evening, under orange and pink skies, the Bobcats manhandled the visiting Eagles, 55-0.

The hometown boys scored 20 points in the first quarter, while holding LHNE scoreless. In Q2, the Bobcats added another 29 points to the effort.

The final score came in the final quarter, when Summerland scampered into the end zone, establishing the final score.

Michael Koenig completed 10 of 14 passes for 161 yards. He connected with four targets. Sam Cheatum pulled in two receptions for 53 yards; Austin Mendoza, one for 16 yards; Alec Schindler caught 4 for 65 yards and Preston Hoke grabbed three receptions for 27 yards.

Mathias Wagner led the rushing attack with 7 carries for 87 yards. Ethan Kester picked up 63 yards on 8 carries and Schindler ran the ball once for 32 yards.

Schindler led the team defensively with 10 tackles. Koenig added eight and Keaton Thiele, six.

Hayden Hobbs, Thiele, Jason Shaver and Koenig each recorded a sack. Cheatum picked off a pass and returned it for 26 yards.
