Wagner scores four touchdowns in win
In a back-and-forth battle, Summerland sunk any Pirate dreams of victory, Friday, as the Bobcats downed Plainview, 60-42.
The Bobcats scored 14 points in the first and second quarters, while the Pirates relied on 21 second-quarter points to knot it at 28 at the half.
In the third quarter, Summerland found success in the end zone twice and connected on both PATs. Plainview added another 14 points.
The fourth quarter belonged to the Bobcats, as they held the Pirates scoreless and added two additional touchdowns to seal the win.
Quarterback Michael Koenig completed 11 of 17 passes for 201 yards. His top target: Sam Cheatum, who caught seven passes for 112 yards. Alec Schindler grabbed three receptions for 50 yards and Preston Hoke caught one for 24.
Mathias Wagner led the rushing corps with 151 yards on 22 carries. Koenig ran the ball 17 times and picked up 123 yards.
Deefensively, Keaton Thiele led the Bobcats with 19 tackles, including seven solo tackles and one tacke for loss. Ethan Kester added 15 takedowns and Hoke, 12.
Thiele was also credited with a sack for a three-yard loss.
Cheatum and Hoke each picked off a pass.
