Meet me at Memorial

Here's the scoop about what's new at Husker athletic venues

When the Nebraska Huskers kick off the football season, Saturday at 2:30 p.m., fans will note several changes at Memorial Stadium.

The biggest change will be how to pay for concession items, programs, stadium seats and merchandise. Keep the cash stashed.

"All Husker athletic venues have now moved to cashless operations," Nebraska Athletic Department personnel reported.

volleyball and women's soccer, played at the Devaney Center and Hibner Stadium, respectively, will also move to cashless operations.

Pinnacle Bank Arena, home to Husker men's and women's basketball teams, previously implemented cashless concession stands.

In order to make the transition smooth, an improved WiFi system will be available in Memorial Stadium concourses. The Fan XP wireless system will no longer be available in stadium seating areas.

Concession hawkers who sell items within the seating area, will also utilize the cashless system.

A new gate screening system will be in place at Memorial Stadium.

"The walk-thru frictionless technology should provide a more efficient gate screening process and enhance safety for Husker fans," officials said.

The change does not affect the clear-bag policy, which remains in effect at all venues.

The Athletic Ticket Office has a new home. It's relocated to the west stadium. On game days, will-call tickets will be available at Gate 10A, which is located by the northwest corner of the stadium. Ticket troubleshooting will still be available at Gate 21.

This is the final year printed tickets will be used. Starting in the 2024-25 winter sports season, all Husker sporting events will utilize mobile tickets.

For years, the Husker football team has made the east sideline its home. This year, the Huskers will move to the west sideline on game days.

The clock denoting the length of media timeouts will also be in a new location. According to the Big Ten Conference, the clock will be on the field, near the southwest 20-yard line, during media breaks, instead of the stadium's ribbon boards.
