Paul A. Malzacher Jr

Paul A. Malzacher, Jr., 80 of Kearney, died Thursday, Aug. 29, 2024, at his home, surrounded by family. Memorial services will be held 10 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 7, at First United Methodist Church, with Pastor Jo Ellen Axthelm officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Oakdale. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, Sept. 6, at the O'Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home in Kearney.

Paul Malzacher, Jr., was born on March 13, 1944, to Paul A. Malzacher, Sr. and Dorothy (Ladwig) Malzacher in Norfolk. He received his education from Neligh High School, where he graduated with the class of 1962. Paul was united in marriage to Deanna Fields in Tilden on June 20, 1965.

Paul worked for General Telephone Company for 35 years until his retirement at the age of 55. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, horses, woodworking and leather tooling.

Paul especially loved spending time with family, cooking with cast iron and dutch ovens. Paul was a member of the Western Wranglers Saddle Club and always enjoyed the trial rides.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Deanna Malzacher; sons, Brian Malzacher and Curtis Malzacher; grandchildren, Sandra (Malzacher) Waschinek, Austin Malzacher, John Malzacher, Matthew Malzacher, and Emma Malzacher; great-grandson, Cain Waschinek; brother, Mark S. Malzacher; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Susan Funk; and brother, Roger Malzacher.

Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation.
