Marine pleads guilty, fined for intimidation

In a long-running Antelope County Court case that included many continuances while he was serving in the military, Julius Tauber, 22, was sentenced last week at the courthouse in Neligh for a crime committed Sept. 17, 2022.

After entering a plea agreement with Antelope County Attorney Joe Smith, Tauber pleaded guilty on Aug. 21, to one of two counts of intimidation by telephone call. Smith dismissed the second count and agreed not to oppose a fine-only sentence.

Tauber was represented by Doug Stratton of Norfolk.

Taylor fined Tauber $500 and taxed him $50 costs of prosecution.

Diana L. Burden, 70, waived her right to counsel and pleaded guilty to no proof of financial responsibility and no valid registration. Taylor fined her $100 and $25, respectively, and assessed $50 costs. She was cited June 29, by a Nebraska State Patrol trooper east of Brunswick on Highway 20.

Tyler P. Asa, 31, of Denver, Colorado, pleaded guilty, by waiver, to possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia and speeding, 85 mph in a 65-mph zone. He was fined $300, $100 and $125, respectively, and taxed $50 costs. He was cited July 29 by a NSP officer, about 10 miles north of Neligh on Highway 14.

Matthew P. Cottman, 56, of Perkins, Oklahoma, pleaded guilty, by waiver, to possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia and speeding, 80 mph in a 65-mph zone. He was fined $300, $100 and $75, respectively, and taxed $50 costs. He was cited June 16 by a NSP officer, about two miles east of Neligh on Highway 275.
