Chambers man faces felony strangulation, threat charges

Two Holt County men waived preliminary hearings and were bound over to the Holt County District Court when they faced the Honorable Kale Burdick in the Holt County courtroom in O’Neill recently. Both are represented by Holt County public defender Rod Smith and have arraignment hearings scheduled Aug. 26 in the district courtroom.

Ray A. Bahm, 56, of Chambers was bound over Aug. 6, on two Class 3A felony charges, assault by strangulations and terroristic threats, along with a pair of Class 1 misdemeanors, third-degree domestic assault and resisting arrest.

Bond, filed June 4, is continued at $5,000, personal recognizance.

Bahm was arrested May 21 by an O’Neill officer. An alleged female victim reported she had been “almost strangled to death” according to an arrest affidavit filed by officer Preston Hoffman. She reported the assault took place in the laundry room of an O’Neill motel where they were residing. She also reported Bahm had threatened to kill her multiple times afterward.

Hauf filed a written not guilty plea and waiver of appearance Aug. 14.
