Clearwater village trustees reviewed the 2024-2025 fiscal year budget during a special workshop, held Aug. 7, at the fire hall meeting room.
Accountant Gina Northcutt reviewed estimated revenue for the year, totaling $216,302.86.
Village clerk Angie Hupp and maintenance man Troy Behnke discussed items they would like to see included in the budget, including potential accounting software, security cameras for the village office, a laptop that could be shared between the clerk and maintenance department, repairs for the library and office building, a shed at the lagoon.
An additional savings fund was discussed, which would be available for roof replacement of the library/office building when needed.
Trustees agreed to budget an additional $5,000 for contract labor, which also includes fees for recodification of the code book.
Northcutt reminded trustees that the village will be audited again, due to the lagoon project. Professional fees are budgeted at $25,000, which also includes village attorney, accountant and IT fees.
While $2,000 was budgeted for supplies, trustee Cody Kester suggested increasing the amount to $5,000 for gravel and salt.
The park budget included two increases: $3,500 for weed spraying and $500 for repairs and maintenance.
The board will give final approval to the budget at its September meeting.
