Village of Clearwater BOARD OF TRUSTEES

The Board of Trustees of the Village of Clearwater met for a special meeting Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2024, at 8:30 p.m., in the fire hall meeting room. Purpose of the meeting is to discuss and take possible action to organize cleanup efforts, contract with necessary volunteers and businesses and provide notice of such to owners of 307 Montana St. per court order. Meeting opened at 8:30 p.m. Notice of Meeting was given in advance by publication in Summerland Advocate-Messenger, was posted at US Post Office in Clearwater, Clearwater Market and Cornerstone Bank-Clearwater and was given to board members prior to meeting. Public was informed of location of Open Meeting Act poster.
Present: Kelly Kerkman, Marsha Hart, Cody Kester, Brian King, Jeff Schlecht. Others present: clerk Angie Hupp, maintenance operator Troy Behnke, reporter LuAnn Schindler, Amy Schonemann, Chantel King.
Discussion held with Amy Schonemann regarding what the village can do to assist in the court-ordered cleanup. Schonemann stated friends and co-workers have been helping her and the boys the past week, but she needs help with larger items. Kerkman stated he contacted Ray Bellar who is willing to pick up inoperable vehicles, scrap metal and tires. Kerkman asked what evening the following week would work for volunteers to finish cleaning. He will meet with Schonemann Thursday to set a date and time. Kerkman stated the board is here to help and wants to see it cleaned and that they are trying to get as much help as possible so they don’t have to charge Schonemann’s anything.
