Top seed knocks off Titan juniors in area tournament play

The Tri-County Titan juniors opened postseason play Friday, July 12, in Creighton, for the Class C Area 1 district tournament. First round action matched the junior Titans against Adams. Adams won the game 9-0.

Max Bruce was the starting pitcher, throwing two-thirds of an inning, allowing three runs on one hit and three walks.

Jacob Pierzina came in relief to throw one and one-third innings. He allowed three runs on three hits, with one strikeout.

Isaac Hoferer was the next Titan pitcher to enter and threw one and one-third innings, also allowing three runs on four hits, one walk and one batter hit by a pitch, with one strikeout.

Ryan Rifer closed out the game with two-thirds of an inning pitched, allowing no runs with one strikeout.

The very solid Adams team scored three runs in each of the first two innings and then scored two in the third inning and one run in the fourth.

"Adams' pitching and defense were just as solid, holding Tri-County to just two hits the entire game," said Titan skipper Jeff Shabram.
