“Rifer was able to pitch the entire game holding Valpo scoreless, except for the fifth inning when they scored five runs,” said coach Jeff Shabram.
Tri-County had a 1-0 lead going into that fifth inning after a triple by Rifer and a sacrifice RBI by Max Bruce to score the lone Titan run.
“The defense played well behind Rifer holding Valparaiso scoreless for much of the game,” Shabram said.

Isaac Hoferer started on the mound and threw three solid innings, allowing one run on two hits with two walks. He struck out three batters before being removed due to pitch count rules.
Bruce came in to throw 1 2/3 innings, allowing five runs on three hits with four walks, while striking out one batter. Levi Hoferer came in for the last out of the game to close out the win.
Shabram said the pitchers were helped by some outstanding plays in the field highlighted by an unassisted double play by Bruce at third base, along with a couple of highlight reel plays by Ryan Rifer in center field and second base.
"But where the young Titans looked their best was at the plate," Shabram said. "The bats were alive Sunday afternoon. Combine that with aggressive base running and that leads to fun offensive baseball."
