Titan seniors get extra innings win

Juniors fall to Irish

The Tri-County Titans seniors traveled to O’Neill on Tuesday, June 4, to take on the O’Neill Pinnacle Bank Irish. The Titans came away with a hard fought 7-6 win in extra innings.

Wyatt Shabram was the starting pitcher, throwing 6 2/3 innings, allowing three runs on four hits and three walks, while striking out an incredible 14 O’Neill batters before exiting the mound in the seventh inning due to pitch count.

Jake Schroeder came in relief to finish the seven-inning and then saved the game in the eighth.

Schroder threw 1 1/3 innings allowing three runs on one hit, two walks with one strikeout.

Coach Jeff Shabram said, "What another awesome Tri-County versus O’Neill seniors game, just 11 days earlier these same two teams went extra innings in Orchard."

O’Neill got on the board with one run in the first inning and then another run in the fourth inning. Tri-County scored two runs in the third inning by Landon Nelson and Connor Thomson, with RBIs credited to Thomson and Ryan Rifer.

The Titans put two more on the scoreboard in the sixth inning with A.J. Hobbs and Schroeder crossing the plate. RBIs were credited to Schroeder and Landon McAllister.

After a scoreless seventh inning for Tri-County, O’Neill got two more runs in their half of the seventh to force the extra inning.

In that extra inning the Titan bats came alive and base runners were aggressive, scoring three runs, Isaac Pavlik, Isaac Hofer, and Riley Saul.

Shabram had one of the RBIs and Rifer had the other two RBIs. O’Neill did manage to score two runs in their half of the eigth, but Tri-County’s defense, behind Schroeder, was able to close the game out by a score of 7-6.
