Healthy Living Expo offers healthcare

The North Central District Health Department will host its first Healthy Living Expo, in Niobrara, June 11.

"NCDHD-area residents are invited to attend," said Jennifer Booker, public health nurse for the district.

The expo will take place at Niobrara Public School from 1 to 7 p.m., and will be packed with fun, education and community spirit according to organizers. Admission is free.

"We've partnered with 30-plus fantastic organizations to bring you an event like no other. The aim of the event is to offer convenient access to community services related to health, mental health, healthcare screenings and overall well-being," NCDHD officials said.

Here's what's in store:

• Games and activities for the whole family.

• Door prizes and free gifts for attendees.

• Niobrara Public School post prom moms and a food truck will be on site serving food for purchase.

• Free and low-cost health services and screenings. Some services may charge or ask for a donation. Bring an insurance card.

• Engaging sessions on safety, the environment and community resources.

Other highlights planned include:

• Vaccination games and vaccinations for all ages, including those needed for school.

• Games and activities for all ages, including distracted driving simulations and knowledge games.

• Learn about the impact of water, air and pest control on your health.

• Mental health resources, including counseling services.

• Emergency and safety demonstrations, including electrical safety and seat belt demos.

• Community resource booths with information for everyone.

• Wellness screenings, including A1C and blood pressure checks, vision and hearing screenings and more.

• Tooth brushing skills and other health-education sessions.
