An Atkinson man previously accused of committing a dozen crimes against a 13-year-old victim in 2022 now faces only four counts in a rescheduled jury trial.
An amended complaint was filed April 22 by J. Andrew Taylor, special county attorney for Holt County. The new information charges Travis L. Frickel, 42, with four Class 3A felony counts of sexual assault of a child in the third degree, alleged between Sept. 1 and Nov. 16, 2022.
The Honorable Mark Kozisec, presiding at a pretrial conference April 22, set a new date of July 23 for an approximate three-day trial.
Frickel was previously set for trial in January on six counts of sexual assault of a child and six felony child abuse counts, alleged during the same time period. However, the order for that trial was vacated by Kozisec at a December 2023 hearing. The case saw a series of continuances.
Arrest affidavits were sealed Nov. 21, 2022, by Kozisec, to protect the alleged 13-year-old victim, who is listed by initials only in the information.
Bond, in the amount of $75,000, 10% cash, is continued.
Frickle is represented by Justin Eichmann of Omaha.
