Six Bobcat boys' track team members fought for medal contention at the April 18 Tom Martin/Wausa Invite, held in Pierce.
Summerland finished fifth in team standings, scoring 39 points.Norfolk Catholic claimed the team title, tallying 117 points, while Pierce was a point shy of the century mark to take the runner-up title.
Three Bobcat high jumpers finished in the top six. Ryan Rifer cleared six feet, en route to the gold medal. Ruger Switzer jumped 5' 10 inches, placing fourth. Carter Bergman set a season record when he flew over the bar at 5' eight inches. He landed in sixth place.
Alec Schindler finished second in the 110m hurdles, crossing the tape in 16.50. In the 300m hurdles, Schindler picked up a bronze medal, running 44.19. He missed medal contention in triple jump after landing at 37' 10.75 inches, good enough for seventh place.
Gavin Whiting threw 47' seven inches, placing second in shot put. In discus, Whiting threw 126' 7 inches, ending in eighth place.
Parker Napier placed fifth in the 300m hurdles, running 46.05. In pole vault, Napier cleared 10' two inches, ending in eighth place. Napier jumped 19' .25 inches in long jump. He finished in ninth place.
