CHAMPIONSHIP DRIVE Bobcats travel to state tourney

By the time this issue of SAM hits readers’ mailboxes, they will know the fate of the Summerland Bobcat boys’ basketball team.

Brett Kaczor’s squad, the four seed, is scheduled to play the fifth seed, Cross County, at 10:45 a.m., Wednesday, at the Devaney Center in Lincoln in the opening round of the Class C2 Nebraska State Activities Association Boys’ Basketball Tournament.

A Wednesday win will give the Bobcats a one-day break from competition, as classes B, C1 and D1 play Thursday. And, it will give Kaczor and company an opportunity to prepare for a Friday contest against the winner of the Amherst vs Bridgeport game. That game is scheduled for a 1:30 p.m., tipoff, Friday, March 8, at the Devaney Center.

Amherst enters as the top seed. They play the 9 a.m., game, Wednesday. In the opening round, number two seed Ponca will face the seventh seed, Norfolk Catholic at 1:30 p.m. Third-seeded Cedar Catholic will face Lincoln Lutheran at 3:15 p.m.

The Class C2 championship will tip off, at 4:15 p.m., Saturday, March 9, at Pinnacle Bank Arena. The consolation game is slated for 9 a.m., Saturday, at Lincoln Northwest, 4901 W. Holdrege.

Tickets for games must be purchased online through GoFan, https://gofan.co/app/school/NSAA. Tickets may be redeemed on a smartphone, either through the GoFan app or email.

Ticket kiosks will be set up at each location. Debit and credit cards will be accepted at the kiosks.

Both the Devaney Center and PBA have clear bag policies. A list of acceptable items is available online at huskers.com/clearbag.
