In what may have been the most complete game they've played this season, the Summerland boys' team knew when to apply pressure and make it count.
The Bobcats dismantled Perkins County, 65-34, in the C2-6 district final, played Feb. 27 at Kearney Catholic.
The Bobcats took a 12-10 lead after the first quarter and went on an unmatched scoring spree in the second and third quarters to secure the win and a trip to the state tournament.
Coach Brett Kaczor said, "The district game was the most complete game we have played this year. Our intensity and effort on defense made our offense come easily. Being in a district final last year, I believe helped us to be comfortable in that situation."
Four Bobcats finished in double figures, led by Preston Hoke with 16; Alec Schindler, 13; and Carter Bergman and Michael Koenig, 10 apiece.
"We are looking forward to the opportunity to compete at state. Our main goal this year was to be playing in Lincoln in March. It has taken a lot of time, effort, and sweat to get here, but now we are going in with the mindset that the job is not finished yet," Kaczor said.
