Preston Hoke scored 11 points and grabbed four steals, leading the Bobcats to a 47-33 win over Wausa, in a contest played at home, Jan. 25.
Summerland jumped to a 20-10 lead after one and extended the margin to 34-18 at the break.
While the Vikings outscored the hometown boys in the final quarter, it wasn't enough to catch the 'Cats.
Coach Brett Kaczor said his team played in two very physical, highly competitive games last week.
"EV was an electric, big atmosphere game with both teams making runs at each other and battling strong for 32 minutes. I was really proud of our guys for staying pretty calm throughout the game and executing when we really needed to," Kaczor said.
His squad needed to adjust to Thursday's physical game against the Vikings.
"Wausa had competed with everyone on their schedule so we knew we had to be locked in for the game. We were able to go on some big runs to create distance from them. We didn't finish the game overly well as we didn't take care of the ball and didn't finish defensive possessions. We know that we, each individually, need to get better over the next couple of days and play more consistently in order to make a big run during the NVC tournament," the coach said.
