Bobcats compete in conference duals competition

Summerland boys' wrestling team traveled to North Central, in Springview, Jan. 25, for the Niobrara Valley Conference duals meet.

Summerland faced West Holt in the opening round and lost to the Huskies, 33-45.

Ethan Kester downed Lane Keogh, by fall in 2:18, in the 144-pound match. At 150, Jesse Thiele pinned Tripp Uecker in 2:00.

Ayden Bzelman pinned Max Flannery in 1:35 in a 113-pound match.

Austin Mendoza earned an 11-4 decision over Jamison Slaymaker.

Bobcat wrestlers winning by forfeit included Connor Thomson, 138, and Tucker Dougherty, 120.

Shayne Jenkins lost by fall, in 2:15, to Ryan Hawkins in a 157-pound match, and at 165, Matt Umphress dropped a 10-7 decision to Dominick Ogden.

For the Huskies, winners by forfeit included Caleb Davis, 175; Grant Osborne, 190; Gabe Schwager, 215; Lucas Griess, 285; Ian Shane, 106; and Braydon Olson, 126.

The Bobcats faced Niobrara/Verdigre and defeated the Cougars, 52-6.

Jenkins pinned Gage Wickersham in 1:08. AJ Hobbs won, 12-4, over Jacob Motacek.

Bobcat competitors winning by forfeit included Kester, Thiele, Shaver, Bazelman, Dougherty, Mendoza and Thomson.

N/V's lone win came in the 285-pound division, as Praeson Klub won by forfeit.

The Bobcats met St. Mary's in the next dual and won, 54-12.

AJ Hobbs pinned Brayden Krugman in 1:55 and Shaver pinned Dalton Herley in 2:00.

In a 132-pound match, Mendoza pinned Cooper Cole in 2:32.

Bobcat competitors winning by forfeit included Thiele, Umphress, Bazelman, Dougherty, Kester and Thomson.

SMH picked up wins by forfeit from Jace Rosenkrans, 175 and Mathew Koehlmoos, 285.

A double forfeit was recorded in the 215-pound class.

In the final dual, the Bobcats defeated Elgin Public/Pope John, 60-12.

Mathew Umphress started the dual by pinning Landyn Veik in 2:50. Shaver pinned Justice Blecher in 2:30.

Ethan Kester pinned Isaac Hemenway in 1:15 and Jesse Thiele won, by fall, in :57, over Jack Barlow.

Bobcat competitors winning by forfeit included Jenkins, Hobbs, Bazelman, Dougherty, Mendoza and Thomson.

EPPJ recorded wins by forfeit at 215, Samuel Hemenway; and 126, Grady Drueke.
