Summerland FCCLA students participated in district competition, Wednesday, Jan. 24, in Wayne. Four will represent Summerland at the state level this spring. Medalists include (front row): Gavin Whiting; (back row, l-r): Belle Anson, Emma King and Addisyn Fletcher.
King won Level 2 Career Investigation.
She investigated a career as a pediatrician and was able to job shadow at Fountain Pointe in Norfolk.
Anson competed in Entrepreneurship Level 1, was district runner-up and received silver. Anson's project involved creation of a dance studio business. "She had to research laws, codes and hiring processes of a business in Nebraska" said advisor Ashley Harrison.
Fletcher received gold and was district runner-up in Level 3 Career Investigation. She researched the career of a special education teacher and completed job shadowing at Summerland Elementary and Clearwater Learning Center.
Whiting was named runner-up in Level 3 Job Interview, receiving gold. Gavin participated in job interview and had a mock interview for a job at Wilbur Ellis.
