Will Summerland Schools be part of a new activity conference? Board of education members will answer that question when they meet Wednesday, Jan. 17.
The meeting will be held in the board room at the school at 7 p.m.
Discussion about a potential conference, which could include Elkhorn Valley, Hartington-Newcastle, Laurel-Concord-Coleridge, Lutheran High Northeast, Neligh-Oakdale, Plainview, West Holt and Summerland has taken place at board meetings since November.
In December, Superintendent Kyle Finke said Summerland would be at the top, enrollment-wise. Geographically, the proposed conference would have a smaller footprint.
Conference activities would begin in 2025-2026, if approved. Summerland currently plays five of the other seven schools in basketball.
Board members will also take an oath of office, elect board officers and complete committee assignments.
A complete agenda for the meeting appears on Page 3. The tentative agenda contains a list of subjects known at the time of printing. A complete agenda, reflecting any changes, will be available at the administrative office during normal business hours. The agenda may be changed up to 24 hours before the scheduled start of the meeting.
