Summerland girl's wrestling team finished second at the Dec. 18 Summerland Invite. South Sioux City edged the Bobcats, 136-130, in a field of 28 teams.
Amor Zermeno finished second in the 105 division. She earned wins by fall over Day Way Paw, Madison, in 3:36 and Sophia Barela, Ansley/Litchfield, in 2:17, before falling to Teegen Hasebroock, Elkhorn Valley, in :53.
Savannah Gallaghe claimed the silver medal in the 120-pound class. She pinned Chloe Kokes, Ord, in 3:03; Josie Hemmingsen, Central Valley, in 4:56 and Gracie Wortman, Randolph, in 5:15. In the first-place match, Gallagher lost by fall, in 3:18, to Josslyn Hoefer, NO.
Ammy Arroyo made her way to the finals in the 190 class with wins by fall over Tomi Li Scott, Winnebago, :32, and Kennedy Blevins, LDNE, 2:22. She lost by fall, in 1:23, to Darian Earth, Winnebago, in the championship match.
Ava Cleveland and Yazlin Zermeno finished third and fourth, respectively, in the 110-pound class.
Cleveland opened with a win, by fall, over Esmeralda Munoz-Vega, SSC, in :49 before dropping a 13-9 decision to Baylee Chessmore, Neligh-Oakdale. Cleveland pinned Homer's Lilyanna Dziurawiec, in 1:41 and pinned Zermeno in 2:40 in the third-place match.
Zermeno opened with a win, by fall, in 4:33, over Dziurawiec, before losing by fall, in 2:17 to eventual division champion Madelynn Bohnet, SSC. Zermeno pinned Wakefield's Michala Beaty in 2:30 to face Cleveland.
Abbey Chipps finished third in the 130-pound class. She pinned SSC's Jassarell Castillo in :38 and won by forfeit over Lyons-Decatur Northeast's Adorai Salazaar. In the semifinal, Chipps lost by fall, in 3:28, to Jordan Aschoff, Norfolk Catholic. Chipps made quick work of SSC's Dayana Arellano, pinning her in :33. In the third-place match, Chipps pinned Angie Miranda, Wakefield, in :46.
Raina Krebs ended in third in the 235-pound class. After a round-one bye, Krebs pinned JaeLeigh Tuttle, LDNE, in 2:32 and lost a semifinal match by fall, in 1:01, to Caitlyn Sohm, SSC. Krebs pinned Ricarda Littlewalk, Winnebago, in 2:38 in the consolation semifinal and won a 3-0 decision over Morgan Hawkins, AL.
Kaylee Thiele finished fourth in the 135-pound class. She dominated Clysta Brott in the first round, winning by fall in :58. In the semifinal, Thiele lost by fall, in 2:48 to Selena Zamora, SSC.
Ashlyn Galvin , wrestling at 115, won an 8-5 decision over Randolph's Karma Henery and lost by fall, in 1:39, to Jolyn Pozehl, Ainsworth. She met Winside's Savannah Paulson in a consolation match and lost by fall, in 1:58.
In the 125-pound class, Gracie Mudloff lost an opening round match by fall, in 2:45, to Maria Perez, Wakefield. Mudloff rebounded with a win by pin, in 1:51 over West Holt's Madalyn Pistulka. Emilee Olson, Randolph, eliminated Mudloff with a win by fall, in :51.
Abby Arroyo competed in the 140-pound class and opened with a loss by fall, in 4:51, to Ava Shald, St. Mary’s. In the consolation quarterfinal, Arroyo lost to Central City’s Adilyn Deibert, in 2:12.
Kyah Bruhn started the day with a loss by fall, in 1:16, to Elgin Public/Pope John’s Dannyka Smidt, in a 170-pound division match. Bruhn lost by fall to Taylor Pavlik, Niobrara/Verdigre, by fall, in 1:22 in the first round of consolation matches.
The Bobcats travel to Winnebago, Friday, for the Winnebago Invitational. Competition is slated to begin at 9:30 a.m.
