Clearwater residents are invited to attend an informational meeting, Sunday, Nov. 19, at the American Legion, sponsored by Legion Post 267 and the Sons of the American Legion.
Details of the organization’s renovation project will be unveiled during the 6 p.m. gathering.
According to Sons of the American Legion commander, Kelly Kerkman, construction on the $350,000 project is scheduled to begin after the first of the year, with a completion date of May 1.
“The Chamber of Commerce has kicked off our fundraising with a $100,000 pledge,” Kerkman said.
The ceiling will be raised, new bathrooms installed and seating area expanded. A connecting door to the former cafe building will allow for additional room.
Kerkman said the Legion has been of part of Clearwater’s history for years.
The Sons of the American Legion received its charter in 2014.
Since then, the group installed a new facade on the building which includes information about the 10 Clearwater residents who died while serving the country.
