Neither wind nor a chilling rain could keep the Bobcats from finding the opposing team's end zone, Friday afternoon, as Summerland dominated North Central, 42-14.
It was a one-two-three punch from Michael Koenig, who completed eight of nine passes for 199 yards, Alec Schindler, who rushed for 140 yards, and Sam Cheatum's 107-yard day in the receiving corps, that did in the Knights.
The Bobcats struck first on a 40-yard pass play from Koenig to Schindler and continued with Koenig and Cheatum hitting paydirt throughout the contest. Schindler ended with four touchdowns and a two-point conversion.
Ethan Kester made his presence known on defense, recording 14 tackles, including three for losses. Logan Kester ended with six tackles, including one solo takedown, while Mathias Wagner finished with five tackles.
With the win, Summerland advances to the 2023 Class D1 NSAA State Football Playoffs. They travel to Eustis, Oct. 19, for a 3 p.m. kickoff against Hi-Line, a coop between Elwood and Eustis-Farnam.
