Public comments accepted about state broadbnd map

The Nebraska broadband Office recently announced the release of the new Nebraska broadband Availability Map. The geographic information system map represents all served, underserved and unserved broadband locations across the state.

As part of the map availability, ongoing public engagement across the state will take place, including a series of eight public meetings and an open comment period, which began Sept. 14 and continues through Oct. 14. During the open comment period, the public will be asked to provide comments on the broadband map, including searching addresses to verify level of highspeed internet access at their homes/businesses.

OpportunitiMeeting dates and locations include

• Monday, Sept. 25, 4 to 6 p.m., NDOT District 2 Headquarters, 4425 S. 108th St., Omaha;

• Tuesday, Sept. 26, 4 to 6 p.m., Divots Conference Center, 4200 W. Norfolk Ave., Norfolk;

• Wednesday, Sept. 27, 4 to 6 p.m., Bosselman Conference Center, 700 E. Stolley Park Road, Grand Island;

• Thursday, Sept. 28, 4 to 6 p.m., NDOT Central Headquarters, 1500 Nebraska Parkway, Lincoln;

• Tuesday, October 3, 4 to 6 p.m., Niobrara Lodge, 803 E. Hwy 20, Valentine;

• Wednesday, Oct. 4, 4 to 6 p.m., NDOT District 5 Headquarters, 140375 Rundell Road, Gering;

• Monday, Oct. 9, 4 to 6 p.m., Holiday Inn Express, 300 Holiday Frontage Road, North Platte; or

• Tuesday, Oct. 10, 5 to 7 p.m., Cobblestone Inn, 1301 US Hwy 83, McCook.

Meetings will be open to the public and will include a map-focused discussion, as well as provide an opportunity to learn about broadband programs and buildout across the state and provide input into digital access, affordability and need for technical skills to create equitable distribution of resources.
