Reliable, Trustworthy Reporting, Capturing The Heartbeat Of Our Community
Residents in Ewing and Clearwater will see an increase in garbage rates following action taken by trustees in both villages.
Ewing Village Chairman James Ramold said representatives from Bud's Sanitary Service, of Newman Grove reported costs have gone up since Green Fiber has closed.
"He has more tonage he has to take care of," Ramold said.
Ewing residents will pay $18.75 per pick up, following approval by trustees when they met Sept. 11.
Residential properties in Clearwater will pay $21 per month, while business properties will be charged $25 a month. Village trustees approved the increase when they met in regular session, Sept. 11. Full text of the rate increase resolution, for Clearwater, appears on Page 8.
Citizens ages 65 and older will be eligible for a reduced rate of $18. Verified proof of age will be required on forms, which are available at the village office.
In both communities, Bud's Sanitary Service will provide one 96-gallon tote at each pick-up location, except for businesses which currently maintain a dumpster. Additional totes will be provided for an additional per-month charge and up to three totes are allowed per property.
"Everything has to fit in the tote," said Sharon Swails, Ewing village clerk.
