Summerland School announces homecoming candidates

Catch the homecoming spirit

Homecoming festivities will take center stage next week at Summerland Public Schools.

Class attendents and senior royalty candidates were announced Tuesday. Student Council advisor Ashley Harrison said coronation will take place during the pep rally, planned to start at 2:05 p.m., Friday, Sept. 22.

Senior queen candidates include Aislynn Kester, Ashley Melcher, Adyson Mlnarik and Preslie Robertson.

Vying for the king's crown will be Caige Anson, Garrett Napier, Barrett Stearns and Jesse Thiele.

Selected as class attendants are Kaylee Thiele and Mason Schwager, freshmen; Caydence Schumacher and Riley Rifer, sophomores; and Bailey Ahlers and Carter Bergman, juniors.

Dress-up days will begin Monday, Sept. 18. Students are asked to wear their brightest neon gear.

Tuesday will be celebrity day for students in grades seven through 12, while elementary students will celebrate Husker Day.

Students won't sleep in on Wednesday, but they will be allowed to wear pajamas to class.

On Thursday, students will dress in their favorite holiday gear and on Friday, students will celebrate Bobcat Pride Day.

Several athletic contests are scheduled throughout the week, including junior high and junior varsity volleyball and football, Monday, Sept. 18. On Tuesday, high school volleyball teams travel to Crofton.

Junior high and high school cross country teams will compete in the Crofton Invite, Thursday, Sept. 21. Races will be held at Lakeview Golf Course.

Summerland will host a junior varsity and varsity triangular, Thursday, with Stanton and Humphrey/Lindsay Holt Family.

On Friday, the boys of fall will meet Elkhorn Valley in a 7 p.m. contest.

Harrison said the homecoming dance will be held Saturday, Sept. 23, from 8 to 11 p.m.
