Feedback needed for county comprehensive plan

Antelope County residents are asked to complete a survey about their vision for Antelope County over the next 20 years.

County zoning administrator Megan Wingate said the public's assistance is welcome to help develop a new comprehensive plan.

The first step is to take the survey, which is available online at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/AntelopeCompPlan or by using the QR code included above.

The survey will be open indefinitely, according to Wingate.According to Wingate, posters and postcards, containing the QR code and links to the online survey and crowdsourced map were distributed around the county.

Hard copies of the survey are available at the courthouse, city halls and village offices throughout the county. Hard copy surveys may be returned to the courthouse for processing.

An updated comprehensive plan will serve as a management and information tool for county leaders, according to Marvin Planning Consultants, of David City, the firm overseeing the process.

The comprehensive plan will provide information about a number of areas, including community engagement, population statistics, housing, economic development, county facilities, parks and recreation, public safety, public health, communications and utilities, hazards, land use, transportation and implementation.

A crowdsource map will assist with telling the story of where the county has been, its current state and provide direction for the future.

Photos showing positive and negative aspects of the county will be accepted via the website. Ten photos may be uploaded at a time.

A crowdsource map is also available for residents to add a location marker for areas which need improvement or to denote a favorite spot in the county.
