Individuals applying for a new utility account - including water, sewer or trash service - furnished by the Village of Clearwater will be required to pay a $150 deposit.
Village trustees approved the deposit fee and signed Ordinance 2023-6 to that effect when they met in regular session, Aug. 14.
According to the resolution, the deposit shall be refunded upon termination of service only after payment of all outstanding balances due to the village. The deposit may be applied to the amount due for prior utility services.
Sewer rates will also increase, following the passage of Ordinance 2023-7.
Residential and commercial rates will run $43.50 per hook-up. Rates for apartments will run the same, with the cost per unit.
The ESU Learning Center rate will run $87 monthly.
Per the resolution, now in effect, bills will be mailed to consumers on or around the 20th of each month, with payment due by the first of the month.
A $25 fee will be added to bills not paid by the fifth day of the month.
Accounts that are two months delinquent shall be disconnected and will be reconnected after payment of a reconnection fee of a $25 fee.
