O'Neill man serves time for domestic assault

James L. Palik, 22, of O’Neill was sentenced to consecutive 30-day stents in the Holt County Jail for counts I and II, intentional domestic assault with injury to his intimate partner and an additional 30 days for Count III, domestic assault – threaten intimate partner in menacing manner. He was given credit for 22 days previously served. He was ordered to pay the court $149 costs of prosecution.

All three counts are Class 1 misdemeanors, committed March 9, 2022, March 28, 2022, and May 12, 2022, to the same victim.

Palik pleaded no contest April 24, to counts I and II, as charged, and Count III, reduced from a Class 3A felony, terroristic threats, by Holt County attorney Brent Kelly in a plea agreement. Kelly also dismissed Count IV, a second count of terroristic threats.

Palik was represented by Holt County public defender Rod Smith.
