On Friday, June 30, the Tri-County Titans juniors traveled to Atkinson to take on the Atkinson Post #86 seniors in American Legion baseball action. Tri-County used a balanced, total team attack to come away with an impressive 8-4 win.

Wyatt Shabram started on the mound for the Titans and pitched the complete game, ending with 96 total pitches on the night while striking out eight batters.

Coach Jeff Shabram said, "He had a very solid defense that he could lean on the entire way."

It started with A.J. Hobbs calling a great game behind the plate and continued with solid infield play from Riley Saul, Ryan Rifer, Connor Thomson, and Landon Nelson.

The Titan outfield, consisting of Jake Schroeder, Dane Miller, Isaac Pavlik, Rogan Robertson, Jase Kotrous, Landon McAllister and Kaiden Bauer were on point the entire game as well, holding the big bats of Atkinson at bay.

Both teams went 1-2-3 in the first inning. Atkinson would score first, plating three runs in the bottom of the second inning.

But in the top of the third, Tri-County would erupt for their largest one-inning scoring frenzy of the season.

Seven Titans touched home plate in the third inning, including Schroeder, Thomson, Shabram, Rifer, Hobbs, Miller and Nelson. RBIs for this scoring explosion were credited to Bauer, Shabram, Rifer, Hobbs, Miller, and Nelson.

"This inning would prove to give the Titans momentum for the rest of the game," Shabram said.

Tri-County scored one more run in the fourth inning when Rifer plated Shabram on an RBI double.

"Titan pitching and defense finished the game strong. We are super proud of the effort by every one of the Titan players. What a fun game and a perfect summer night for baseball," Shabram said.

Tri-County was scheduled to play its final regular season game, Wednesday, July 5, when the Pender Post #55 juniors were to visit Orchard.
