On Friday, June 16, the Tri-County Titans traveled to Creighton to take on Creighton/Plainview in junior legion baseball action. In a tight game until the final inning, Tri-County fell to Creighton/Plainview by a score of 0-8.
Ryan Rifer took the mound for Tri-County, throwing four outstanding innings, according to Coach Jeff Shabram. Rifer allowed only two runs while striking out four batters.
Due to pitch count rules, Wyatt Shabram came in for relief for Rifer, pitching the final two innings. He allowed six runs and struck out two batters.
The Creighton/Plainview bats came to life near the end of the game with some nice hits with runners in scoring position. Meanwhile the Tri-County bats would put the ball in play only to see the solid Creighton/Plainview defense hold the Titan offense at bay.
"And we just couldn't score the runners when they advanced into scoring position. Creighton/Plainview has a very nice ball team that is solid at every position. Congratulations to them," said Coach Jeff Shabram.
Tri-County will host O'Neill/Neligh, Friday, June 23, at 7 p.m. The contest will be broadcast on KBRX 102.9 FM radio.
The game against Valentine Post #90 juniors, that was rained out during Kolach Days, will now be played on Tuesday, June 27, at 6:30 p.m., in Verdigre.
