Tobacco compliance checks completed

Area Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition and North Central District Health Department sponsored tobacco compliance checks in Antelope, Holt, Boyd, Pierce and Knox counties through a Region 4 block grant. Compliance checks are conducted by Nebraska State Patrol to check tobacco retailers to ensure they are complying with Nebraska laws regarding tobacco sales.

In Antelope County, 17 retailers were checked and two failed resulting in a 88.3% compliance rate. Mr. S’s, City Limits, Dean’s Market, Neligh Vapor Shop, Elgin One Stop, The Home Town Station, Thriftway Market, Cubby’s Inc., Buff’s Dew Drop Inn, Dollar General #6015, Casey’s Retail Co #2378, Hi-Way Mart, Dusty’s, TJ’s Market and Royal Bar and Grill, LLC, all passed the compliance check.

JB Mart and Royal One Stop both failed the compliance checks.

In Holt County, 21 retailers were checked and three failed resulting in an 85.8% compliance rate. Ewing Family Foods, DW’s Pub, Dollar General, Cubby’s, Casey’s General Store #1816, Fox’s Food Plaza, Torpins Rodeo Market, Gokie Mini Mart, Dollar General, Village Market, 95 West Express, Speedee Mart, White’s Service, Brauns’ IGA, South Side Mini Mart, Bosselman’s Pump and Pantry #20, Larry’s Package and Video and Super Foods all passed the compliance check.

First Stop, Irish Spirits and The Farmers Store 126 failed compliance checks.

In Boyd County, six retailers were checked and two failed, resulting in a 66.6% compliance rate.

In Knox County, 19 retailers were checked and two failed resulting in an 89.5% compliance rate.

In Pierce County, nine retailers were checked and none failed resulting in an 100% compliance rate.
