Titans down Randolph

The Tri-County Titans traveled to Randolph, Sunday, June 11 for junior legion baseball league action.

"What a beautiful night for baseball as the Titans won the game in convincing fashion by a score of 9-3," said Coach Jeff Shabram.

It was a complete team effort as nine different Titans scored or knocked in an RBI and everyone reached base.

Starting on the mound for Tri-County was Ryan Rifer, throwing three innings, allowing two runs and striking out five Randolph batters. Wyatt Shabram came in relief, throwing four innings, allowing one run, while striking out six batters.

The game was tied at one after the first inning, with Connor Thomson scoring the first run of the game. Then the Titans had a huge two-out rally in the second inning, scoring five runs by Jake Schroeder, Jase Kotrous, Thomson, Shabram and Rifer, and never looked back.

Rifer scored one Titan run in the fourth inning. Tri-County followed that up with two runs scored in the fifth inning from Kaiden Bauer and Kotrous. RBIs were credited to Shabram, five; A.J. Hobbs, two; Issac Pavlik and Landon Nelson.

The Titan defense was on point as well, backing up the strong pitching, only committing one error throughout the seven-inning game. Other Titans helping lock down the defense included Riley Saul and Rogan Robertson.

"Excellent effort boys," Shabram said.

Tri-County will now have a mini bye as they will not play again until Friday, June 16, at Creighton, for a 7 p.m., first pitch versus Creighton/Plainview. That is the first night of Berry Pepper Days in Creighton.

The Stanton seniors travel to Orchard on Tuesday, June 20, for a 7 p.m., game.

The rainout game originally scheduled for Saturday, June 10, in Verdigre, against Valentine, will be rescheduled at a later date and will be played in Verdigre.

Shabram said the team, families, fans and community of Verdigre look forward to that night.

"We will keep everyone posted as to when that will be played," Shabram said.
