O'Neill man gets eight to 16 years for selling meth

An O’Neill man who was convicted of selling meth in April, faced the Honorable Mark Kozisek in the Holt County district courtroom in O’Neill last week for sentencing.

Nathan C. Eschliman, 39, was sentenced to not less than 96 nor more than 192 months in a facility under the jurisdiction of the Nebraska Department of Corrections. He was given credit for six days previously served in the county jail.

Provided he loses none of his good time, Eschliman must serve 48 months, less six days, before becoming eligible for parole and 96 months, less six days, before obtaining mandatory release.

The sentence was ordered to be served consecutive to one currently being served in the Platte County.

He was remanded to the custody of Holt County sheriff Ben Matchett for execution of sentence.

Eschliman was adjudged guilty April 24, after reaching a plea deal with Holt County attorney Brent Kelly, of possession of a controlled substance, with the intent to deliver (methamphetamine), a Class 2 felony committed Jan. 1, 2022. Eschliman pleaded guilty to the charge and Kelly dismissed two additional counts of possession of meth with intent to deliver, along with a Boyd County burglary case.

Eschliman was represented by court-appointed attorney, Michael Sholes of O’Neill.
