The year 2023 marks a milestone at Northeast Community College. On Fri., May 12, the college will hold its 50th commencement ceremony to celebrate the success of its graduates.
Three commencement ceremonies will be held in the Cox Activities Center on the Norfolk campus at 9 a.m., 12 p.m., and 3 p.m.
At 9 a.m., nursing graduates will receive their nurse pins and participate in commencement. The ceremony at 12 p.m., will award credentials to graduates in applied technology and health and public services programs, while graduates in business and humanities and science, technology, agriculture and math and business and humanities will receive their degrees, diplomas and certificates at 3 p.m. All guests must have a ticket to be admitted to commencement ceremonies.
As of May 4, some 923 graduates, including those earning more than one degree, and those who completed their studies this past summer and fall, are to be listed in the commencement program. The 923 students earned 1,051 degrees; 67 students earned two degrees, 26 earned three degrees and three earned four degrees.
Katlyn Krueger, Foster, and Yovany Carrillo, Madison, will give student addresses. Krueger, who will receive an associate degree in nursing, will speak at the 9 a.m. ceremony. Carrillo, who has earned an Associate of Arts degree in criminal justice, will speak at the 12 p.m. and 3 p.m. ceremonies. Stacey Aldag, math instructor, will give the faculty address at the 12 p.m. and 3 p.m. ceremonies.
Krueger has been a member of the Student Nurses Association at Northeast and has served as treasurer. She plans to work as a registered nurse at CHI Health Plainview upon graduation.
At Northeast Community College, Carrillo was actively involved in the TRIO College Success Program, Criminal Justice Club and a member of the Phi Theta Kappa academic honor society. He plans to attend the University of Nebraska-Lincoln to continue his education as a business administration major with a concentration in finance. Carrillo looks forward to pursuing his dream of working for a federal agency.
Aldag has been sharing her love for learning in the mathematics department at Northeast Community College since 2008. As an instructor, she works with students, serves on committees and is the co-sponsor for the Student Leadership Association.
The Northeast media arts program will broadcast all ceremonies live on Sparklight Channel 20 in all communities served by the company, on Allo Channel 1 in the Norfolk area, and streamed online at team1sports.com/northeastcc.
Ceremonies will be shown on demand on Northeast's YouTube channel.

Codey Snider, Clearwater, Associate of Applied Science Degree, building construction.
