Golf team continues to make improvements

Bobcat golf team members participated in multiple meets last week. Coach Bill Tabbert said the Crofton course was "a tough hilly course that presented tough pin settings and windy conditions."

Dylan Rotherham shot 92 to medal and the Bobcats finished sixth in the competition that included Pierce, Ponca, Crofton, Homer and West Holt.

Windy conditions hampered play again April 18 at Niobrara. The Bobcats persevered, shooting 187. Dane Miller finished second to Niobrara's Preston Crosley.

"Seniors Kellen Mlnarik and Matthew Potter each shot 47 to help the team finish first in the quad," Tabbert said.

The junior varsity team shot 197 and was led by Logan Kester and Kelton Bruhn. Both carded 48.

On April 19, golfers competed in the Plainview Invite, which was rescheduled from April 15. Fifteen teams and 67 golfers participated in the Pirate meet.

The Bobcats finished eighth, just two strokes out of sixth place.

"Dane Miller took the 14th-place medal for Summerland," Tabbert said.

Matthew Potter was just two strokes out of medal contention.

The coach said he was glad to see improvement by Logan Kester.

"He's lowered his average by five strokes over the last two meets," Tabbert said.
