Clearwater village board approves lot sale

A lot located at 507 1st Street in Clearwater will have new owners, pending approval of an ordinance when village trustees meet May 8.

Andrew Blecher and Tony Blecher, of Main Street Repair, first approached Clearwater village trustees in February about purchasing the lot. Tony Blecher said the business will use the area to park vehicles scheduled for repair.

"All I want is a parking lot to get the cars off the street," he said.

Trustees approved a resolution regarding the sale, April 10, at the board's monthly meeting. The price listed for the sale is $2,000.

According to village clerk Angie Hupp, the resolution for the sale outlines that the village will maintain an easement on the property, in order to make repairs for drainage purposes.

"It includes anything he has done to create his parking lot. The village is not responsible for anything that they tear up of his," Hupp said.

Following the April meeting, the resolution was posted in three public places in the village, as required by Nebraska Revised Statute 84-1411.

This gives the public the right to discuss the purchase and express concerns with village board members during the monthly meeting in May, according to Hupp.
