Rotherham, Miller medal at Bobcat golf invite

The Summerland boys’ golf team tied for fourth place at its home invitational, held April 13 at Summerland Golf Course.

The varisty squad shot 367 to tie Elgin Public/Pope John.

Norfolk Catholic won the team title, shooting 350 and O’Neill finished second, with 360. Stuart ended in third place, with 363.

Dylan Rotherham carded an 82 to place fifth in individual competition. Kellen Mlnarik ended in ninth place, with an 87 and Dane Miller tied for 13th place, shooting 90.

Will Jesse, of CWC, won the individual title. He shot 76. Karter Otte, of O’Neill, finished second with 79. Stuart’s Schuyler Mustin and Gavin Yosten, of Norfolk Catholic, shot 81 to tie for third place.

Other Summerland golfers competing in the meet included Christian Behnk, 103; Kelton Bruhn, 92; Bennett Flenniken, 112; Matthew Potter, 91; and Barrett Stearns, 107.

On April 17, the Bobcats traveled to Crofton, where they finished sixth in team standings. Summerland finished with 417.

Pierce carded 340 to win the tournament and Ponca ended with 376 to take the runner-up title.

Crofton finished third with 384; Homer, fourth, 408; West Holt, fifth, 415; Niobrara/Verdigre, seventh, 424; Crofton junior varisty, eighth, 475; Lutheran High Northeast, ninth, 500; followed by Chambers-Wheeler Central and Crofton JV team two.

Dylan Rotherham was the lone medalist for the Bobcats. He carded 92 to tie for eighth place with Crofton’s Zack Foxhoven.

Travis Emory, of Pierce shot 78 to win the individual title.

Also competing for Summerland were Matthew Potter and Bennett Flenniken, who finished with 104 apiece; Dane Miller, 117 and Logan Kester, 120.
